This 1920s Ghent home has two gas water heaters side by side in a steep, unfinished attic. One tank had started leaking into the pan and the other was nearly the same age, so the owners chose to replace both at once.
We carried both 50-gallon units up through the attic hatch, installed new drain pans with dedicated drain lines, new gas shut-offs and sediment traps, updated the vent connectors and added a thermal expansion tank on the cold supply.

Access was the hardest part of this job: a narrow attic stair, low rafters and old black-iron gas piping that had to be re-worked to meet current code without disturbing the plaster ceilings below.
